Believe 04:29
Being gone, and playing God I can't fix you, but I made you this way And in my image, you shall remain You shall remain But don't you try to figure it out Don't try, don't try to figure it out Believe Oh, believe 'Cause some things you will never know Oh some things you will never know It takes so long For the faithful ones To be redeemed In the eyes of me But to their credit At least they're trying At least they're trying But they won't ever figure it out They won't ever figure it out They'll believe They'll believe 'Cause some things they won't ever know 'Cause some things they won't ever know Oh, some things they will never know So when you're lost Just call on me I may not answer, I may not respond But if you just Keep calling, just keep calling And by now, you have figured it out Oh yes you have, figured it out Some things are best, left along Believe Oh, believe 'Cause some things you will never know Oh, some things you will never know

You were born as a clock A little baby watch And as you shaved the hours off Your work never stopped The world moved on I'm not done yet, just getting started now I'm not done yet You were a perfect timepiece Pure punctuality With a face that did gleam And numbers you could read That the world didn't need That the world didn't need I'm not done yet, just getting started now I'm not done yet Open it up Fix the machine It breaks apart You’ll see what I mean Now you're in a box Neatly wrapped up Oh, six feet deep In the pocket of The Earth Open it up Fix the machine It breaks apart You'll see what I mean
3.
Continuation 04:57
Continuation Of the beginning You belong Anywhere but here Your hesitation Upon departure The facing of Every little fear Every little fear Continuation Of the beginning You belong Anywhere but here Your hesitation Upon departure The facing of Every little fear It seems so close It seems you are moving forward Without ever know Ah, what comes next What will be Like smoke exhaled Like smoke you're escaping out And slowly flowing We drift apart You are free Seeking out The only thing That makes you feel Alright The vision of Such perfect life It finally fades Out of sight And then there were two And then there was you Standing alone For what seemed like forever Uh huh For what seemed like forever Uh huh For what seemed like forever For what seemed like forever Yeah The vision of Such perfect life It finally fades Out of sight

Fever At our very core With temperatures rising I open the window more Oh, water Sweating from my glass And pouring all around us So I close the cellar's hatch Oh fear As this flood encircles me Will I drown sleeping? Under the attic's beams? As it comes rushing in I'm somewhere dreaming Just hoping for the best Hoping for the best As it fills to the edge I want to begin again Just hoping for the best Hoping for the best Rootless As I was before My life caught downstream Like a boat without an oar Ashamed That I didn't listen in All the disregarded warnings Oh, the foolishness of men Oh yeah (Oh yeah) As it comes rushing in I'm somewhere dreaming Just hoping for the best Hoping for the best As it fills to the edge I want to begin again Just hoping for the best Hoping for the best

Dear Ghost 03:56
(Dear ghost) Anger, I heard what happened You took another man today And in a distant pit of gravel Another hollow body lay Dear ghost Of palest skin I'm close to believing And how many lives did you live? And which one did you give To haunt me? To haunt me Misfortune, we've really had it You've crippled our simple way And along this gentle river The poison travels to the bay Dear ghost Of palest skin I'm close to believing And how many lives did you live? And which one did you give To haunt me? Do you even know The gift you have been given? To live Dear ghost Of palest skin I'm close to believing And how many lives did you live? And which one did you give To haunt me?
6.
Push through And waste no time anticipating What's next You will soon find out What you will get From it all And here it comes I can't be the only one believing In it all Yeah You should be the only agreeing With it all Yeah Even when looks can be that deceiving Yeah The general idea Turns away from itself And dies Once again Montano That got stuck in my head But the endless climb Turns a dream toward its death But it still might find One last breath Before it's gone Forever Forever The general idea Turns into a fixation And lives Once again And with that being said I should be the only one paying the cost And you know that it's true No one's been stuck in here As long as you As long as you
7.
Up to Here 04:25
I've had it up to here I've had it up to here I could disappear If all we are Is nothing And all you want Is something Then reach low, into your heart Dig deeper And make a new start Just make a new start Or else they will break apart Disintegrate All of your dreams Your better days So take them now These fleeting words And hold them Oh, hold them Reach up Above your head Push higher Or scream out instead Nothing left unsaid Here, I've had it up to here Here, I've had it up to here

about

Confluence began in 2012 as, for lack of a better word, the confluence of the various musical incarnations of longtime friends Gassman, Spenser Leighton, Alan Hubbard and Brett DeWire.

With the release of their debut EP and a subsequent series of singles, the rising math-rock band became an all-consuming endeavor for the four friends. Along with festival appearances and tours throughout the Northwest and Midwest, the quartet shared the stage with the likes of Maps & Atlases, Radiation City, Typhoon, AAN, And So I Watch You From Afar, The Tontons, TTNG, Mylets, and Into it. Over it.

The peaks, valleys and and abrupt dynamics of Confluence's songs provide an apt metaphor for the band's journey over the past seven years. Turmoil struck in 2014 with the arrest of Hubbard during a fall through the Midwest and the departure of DeWire from the group. For a while, the amps were silent, the guitars fell out of tune and the drums gathered dust.

In 2016, Confluence found new inspiration in the addition of former Montoneros frontman, Gaston Leone, who brought more detailed guitar interplay and textures that worked alongside Gassman's frenetic voice. Together, this new formation of Confluence crafted and recorded an album.

What was meant to be a well-rounded spin of new life was limited by time and finances. Once seven tracks were completed, the record was put on the shelf and Confluence eventually dissolved for good.

Now, in 2018, the former members want this record, "Closure, Start Over," to see the light of day.

Throughout "Closure, Start Over"—a fast-paced, 30-minute jaunt of knotty riff-laden passages and bombastic breakdowns—Confluence is tighter than ever before. Lyrically, Gassman has lot to say, whether ruminating on the balance between cynicism and optimism, despair and hope or reassurance and uncertainty.

Yes, here, Confluence shows an awesome last gasp of energy. One built up after so much time spent being a band. In this ending effort, Confluence is at its best.
